EARLY FALL 2010 • HIGHLIGHTS

PASTORAL COUNSELING RETREAT
Labyrinth & Forgiveness   [Register Online]
Friday, September 24, 9am-3:30pm, St. Francis Center for Renewal

Although God intends for us to be whole, somewhere on our life journeys we all encounter physical, emotional and intellectual wounding. Explore the nature of forgiveness and utilize the labyrinth as a path of prayer and discernment to facilitate forgiveness of oneself and others as we accept God's generous love and healing grace. Jane Williams, MDiv, PhD, Director of the MAPC Program at Moravian Theological Seminary.

Risky Talk: Christians and Muslims Speak Directly
5 Tuesdays, September 28-October 26, 7-9pm
  [Register Online]

Moravian Seminary and the Muslim-founded Lehigh Dialogue Center have sponsored programs exploring Christian-Muslim relations in informational ways. Now we move toward dialoging, being frank but not argumentative, about controversial topics. We suggest ways to create ongoing dialogue groups so that conversations might be extended in homes and other settings.
Walter Wagner
, PhD, Lutheran pastor, adjunct faculty member at MTS and at Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

Thursday, October 14, 6-8pm, Dinner & Lecture option available

What is “Moravian” about Moravian Theological Seminary and the Moravian Church in North America? The word “Moravian” makes a direct connection between these modern institutions and the Czech Reformation that took place in Moravia and Bohemia during the 15th century, but can we also identity a distinctive Moravian theological tradition? Craig Atwood, PhD, Charles D. Couch Associate Professor of Moravian Theology and Ministry at Moravian Theological Seminary

COUILLARD MEMORIAL LECTURES   d
Reading the Bible through a Paradise Lens
Friday, November 5, 9:30am-2:30pm  [Register Online]

For the first thousand years of the Christian era, images of Jesus depicted him as the restorer and protector of Paradise in this present life and on this earth—never as the crucified victim. Rita Brock, co-author of Saving Paradise, argues that if we were to take this fact with the seriousness it deserves, it would revolutionize a Christianity that should lead movements to bring peace and healing to a broken world. Rita Nakashima Brock, PhD, noted speaker and theologian, Founding Director of Faith Voices for the Common Good

Group Spiritual Direction   [Register Online]
4 Tuesdays, October 4-25, 7-9pm

Sitting in a circle, we listen to each other, hold each other in the presence of God, and learn to trace the movement of the Spirit in our lives.
