SEBO 924 Prophets: Amos and Hosea
Prerequisite: SEBO 603

What do the prophets teach us about God’s justice and love? With these and other questions in mind, this course will examine two “minor prophets,” Amos and Hosea, focusing on their messages, rhetoric, and relevance for their ancient audiences and for today’s church. Attention will be given to the historical situation, the literary form, and the canonical shape of each prophet. Since the Hebrew prophets have provided a strong link between Judaism and Christianity, discussions will also include how early Christians interpreted their messages.
