The MAPC Practicum is a one credit course for MAPC students preparing for SEPF 733 Pastoral Care and Counseling. This course introduces the foundational concepts, skills and paperwork necessary for the 100 hour practicum component of an MAPC degree (as required for licensure). MAPC students begin their 100 hour practicum hours in January session (approximately 8 hours/week at a practicum site, in addition to class time) and complete the remaining practicum hours (approximately 4 hours/week) by the end of their spring semester Pastoral Care and Counseling class.
This course is a pre-requisite for SEPF 733 Pastoral Care and Counseling, but it is not required for MAPC/MSW or MAPC/MDiv students or for MAPC students doing CPE, who acquire both the knowledge and the practicum hours from their respective additional degree programs.
