SEPF 748  Ignatian Exercises: Theory and Practice

[Prer: Any one of SEPF 724, SEPF 727, SEPF 741, SEPF 744]

The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola are a classic in Christian spirituality. Their genius provides us with a rich tool for personal and communal transformation and an invaluable resource for facilitating contemplative practices in our places of ministry. This course will be highly experiential. Students will pray through the Four Weeks of the Spiritual Exercises as a group experience. Special attention will be given to the student’s personal and communal experience of God, the underlying theology of the Spiritual Exercises, and ideas for the practical application of the Exercises in their personal prayer life and in their places of ministry
