SEHS 971 Christian Spirituality: Guides from the 1st–7th Centuries

Beginning with Paul and the Fourth Gospel, the course centers on selected Eastern and Western Christian spiritual masters and pastors throughout the mid-7th century. The other figures anticipated to be considered are Clement of Alexandria, Origen, Athanasius, Cyril of Jerusalem, Gregory of Nyssa, Gregory of Nazianzus, Augustine, John Cassian, Pseudo-Dionysius, Gregory the Great, and Maximus the Confessor. Opportunities are provided for participants to reflect on their own responses, growth and ministry.
