The aims of this course are: to introduce students to classical Christian doctrines concerning creation, sin, grace, redemption, and human fulfillment; to compare and contrast Christian views (both Eastern and Western) of human nature with other religious and secular perspectives; to consider the topic of theological anthropology with respect to possible “posthuman” futures foreshadowed by current developments in neurobiology and genetic and cybernetic technologies, and to encourage students to formulate their own working definition of human nature as it relates to their practice of ministry.
