In 2003, Moravian Seminary entered into a cooperative agreement with Marywood University School of Social Work (Scranton, Pennsylvania) to offer two Dual Master Degree programs:
MDiv & Master of Social Work (MDiv-MSW) [129 credits]
MAPC & Master of Social Work (MAPC-MSW) [94 credits]
The dual degree programs are ideal for students who are interested in applying social work principles to their pastoral counseling and/or congregational ministries. These programs also offer students the opportunity to develop skills in integrating theological perspectives into their work in mental health professions.
To enter the Dual Degree Programs, students must be accepted to both institutions. Click here to see Moravian Seminary's requirements for admission.
Contact the Marywood University graduate department for the admission requirements for their MSW program.
The MSW courses are taught by Marywood, and all MDiv and MAPC courses are taught by Moravian Seminary.
All MDiv and MAPC classes are held on the Moravian Seminary campus in Bethlehem, PA. MSW classes are held either on the Marywood campus in Scranton, PA, or at DeSales University in Center Valley, PA.
Each semester students will register and pay tuition to one or both institutions according to the courses taken.
Upon graduation students will receive the MSW from Marywood and the MDiv or MAPC from Moravian Seminary.
Marywood’s Master of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Students who complete the joint program can be licensed in Social Work (LSW) and in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The clinical social work license requires an additional 3600 hours of supervised clinical work beyond the MSW degree. |
