Additional MATS Requirements
Students will have unique opportunties to grow personally by engaging in programs outside of the traditional classroom. The following experiences are required of each MATS student prior to graduation:
• participation in one Multicultural Awareness Seminar
• participation in four continuing education programs

The Concentration or Certificate in Formative Spirituality
The Concentration in Formative Spirituality (12 credits) is ideal for MATS students who would like to focus some their electives on contempletive practices and group spiritual formation. The courses ground students in the contemplative tradition while offering hands-on opportunities for practical application within parish ministry settings, agencies and for individual practice.

MATS students seeking a more intensive exploration of the contempletive life and development of skills needed to facilitate these practices with others may choose to focus all of their electives on the Graduate Certificate in Formative Spirituality (21 credits). MATS students who are concurrently completing the Graduate Certificate in Formative Spirituality can substitute Spirituality within Diversity (SEPF 745) for the Intro to World Religions (SEGS 503) requirement.
