Does God’s economy look like Wall Street?  Can the world afford the American dream… or does God have another dream in mind?  Shane will help us re-imagine the biblical vision of Jubilee redistribution and to internalize the responsibility that comes with being “born again” in such a dysfunctional human family.  We will explore what the Gospel has to say to the fragile world that we have created, and look at some models of community that can help us to find healing for both ourselves and the world in which we live.  And since all this requires a rebirth of imagination, don’t be surprised if this event veers off into a little holy mischief now and then!

Shane Claiborne is one of the founding members of the Simple Way community in Philadelphia that has helped to birth and connect radical faith communities around the world, many of whom have become part of what has been called a “new monasticism.” He is author of The Irresistible Revolution: Living as an Ordinary Radical and co-author of Jesus for President.  He teaches at the Alternative Seminary in Philadelphia, serves on the Board of Directors for the Christian Community Development Association, and writes and travels extensively speaking about peacemaking, social justice, and Jesus.
