In celebration of five years of the dual degree collaboration between Moravian Theological Seminary (MAPC & MDiv) and Marywood University School of Social Work, Dr. Edward Canda, one of the nation’s pioneers in the field of spirituality and social work, will offer a day long workshop highlighting the integration of these two fields.  Dr. Canda brings together both academic rigor on this topic as well as highly practical tools for bridging these two disciplines. Having worked in this interdisciplinary field for over 30 years, Dr. Canda’s co-authored text Spiritual Diversity in Social Work Practice (1999) and the updated version (September, 2009), provide the knowledge, ethical guidelines, and practical skills and techniques needed for equipping workers to competently address the growing plethora of spiritual diversities within our communities.

Dr. Edward Canda is Professor of Social Welfare and Director of the Office for Research on Spiritual Diversity in Social Work at the University of Kansas and founder of the Society for Spirituality and Social Work.  As a PhD scholar on this integrative topic, Dr. Canda’s Master’s of Arts in Religious Studies as well as his extensive scholarly work in Seoul, Korea and Japan expand his repertoire of spiritual diversity.
