This is a workshop for those pastors and worship planning teams who have ever found themselves looking wistfully at the big screens and professional praise bands and 50-member choirs in large churches and feeling woefully under-resourced for worship.  The good news is that vital worship has less to do with big production than with big hearts, deep faith, and a desire to make a joyful noise to God - something any number can do!  We’ll look at principles and resources for worship in the smaller congregation (many of them available for free or at little cost), and share our own experiences with creative and transformative worship in the “compact” (70 or fewer in worship on a typical Sunday) church.

David DeRemer, DMin,  is senior pastor of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Nazareth, and serves as an adjunct faculty member at Moravian Theological Seminary and Princeton Theological Seminary.  Before coming to St. John’s, he provided pastoral and worship leadership for three congregations in the course of fifteen years, each averaging less than 50 in worship; and he has done consulting work for several smaller congregations on fund raising, stewardship and leadership development.
