“The Christian mystic awakens to, is purified and illuminated by, and is eventually united with the God of love. As an icon of agapic love, the mystic both amplifies every person’s more hidden life of faith, hope, and love and points the way to full human authenticity” (Harvey Egan, An Anthology of Christian Mysticism).

In this retreat-class, participants will learn about and learn from such mystics as Thomas Merton, Julian of Norwich, and Teilhard de Chardin, among others. Through presentations, prayer, ritual, community, and personal reflection, we will engage these “icons of agapic love,” allowing them to awaken our own hidden lives of faith, hope, and our fullness of human authenticity.
