Moravian Seminary places a high value on community. Our average enrollment of 100 students helps to foster a close and caring community. Students, faculty and staff relate on a first name basis and uphold each other as fellow seekers whether in the classroom, lounge, or chapel. Community chapel services, social gatherings, and special events nourish relationships which can become lifelong personal and professional relationships.
Like the Moravian Church, the Seminary is a Christ-centered community which professes a strong, personal faith in Jesus Christ, but with a broad-minded and tolerant attitude. There is a strong concern for social issues and global awareness.
Our students are organized under a constitution which provides for a large measure of self-government. Student committees are responsible for much of the non-classroom program. Planned activities can include regular community dinners, guest speakers, fitness opportunities, field trips, social events, and volunteer service projects.
Students are encouraged to participate fully in community life and may join any of the following groups:
• Choir
• Spiritual Life Committee
• Social Life and Recreation Committee
• Mission Committee
• Newspaper
Students serve on all administrative boards and committees of the Seminary including the Trustees, Alumni/ae Board of Governors, MAPC Alumni/ae, Curriculum, Strategic Planning, and Commencement.
Family members of MTS students are encouraged to participate in chapel services, community meals, special lectures, and other aspects of Seminary life.
Additionally, spouses/partners:
