Students in the degree and graduate certificate programs are required to participate in continuing education
events throughout the course of their
program.
(MDiv - 6 programs; MAPC and MATS - 4 programs; Formative Spirituality certificate - 2 programs.)
The requirement will be administered under the following guidelines:
1.
Any continuing education event offered by MTS, by any LVAIC school
(see list below), or by a student's judicatory or denominational
office are automatically eligible to count toward the requirement.
2. Other events need approval by the relevant full-time faculty member
(biblical events by one of the biblical faculty, pastoral theology
events by one of the pastoral theology faculty, etc.).
3. “Proof” of
participation could be in the form of a CEU certificate (or copy
of one with your name on it), an original
program from the event, or other proof of participation that identifies
the event and the date of the event.
4. Sign and date
the certificate, program, etc., and turn it in to the Registrar’s
office within the semester that you attend the event.
5. If this was an
event for which you needed approval by a full-time faculty member,
have the faculty member sign the certificate, program,
etc., before you turn it in to the Registrar’s office.
Answers
to three frequently asked questions:
• Unless
an instructor has “released” a class
to attend an event, attendance at an event that meets at the same time
as a class will not be counted as an “excused absence.”
• If
an event is either required for a whole class or is an optional assignment
on a class syllabus, the event DOES count toward
fulfilling this requirement.

The LVAIC schools are Moravian College, Muhlenberg College, Lehigh
University,
Lafayette College, Cedar Crest College, DeSales
University.
