13 Agencies Participate in MAPC Job Fair

Sponsored and planned by our very active MAPC Alumni Committee, the third annual MAPC Job Fair was held in the Saal on March 14th. Following the lunch meal, representatives from local pastoral counseling, behavioral health, and human service organizations introduced the mission and opportunities at their agencies and then remained available at tables stationed around the Saal for MAPC students and graduates to talk with them.

Coordinated by Marcella Kraybill-Greggo, MAPC Clinical Director, this event has become an important part of Moravian’s efforts at placing students in quality internships in the Lehigh Valley in order to fulfill their licensure requirement for a 600-hour supervised clinical placement. The large number of agencies at this event is a tribute to the excellent, wide-ranging network of care that has been developed between Moravian Seminary and the community through the MAPC program. Moravian MAPC students are highly respected by these agencies and they often receive job placement offers at the site of their internship.

In addition, this event has become a fruitful opportunity for recent MAPC graduates, or those about to graduate, to locate a position that fits their vocation, passion, and skills in the area of pastoral counseling. In February 2008 the visiting site team from the Association of Theological Schools Accreditation Commission commended the MAPC program for its effective integration of theological and clinical instruction, for the quality of its internship placements, and for its intentional efforts in placing graduates in meaningful positions.

The MAPC Job Fair and the Professional Day held in the fall have become effective recruitment tools for those considering the MAPC program. Several prospective students were in attendance at the March event, and they appreciated the provision of a comprehensive, first-hand look at opportunities open in the pastoral counseling field.
