Moravian Theological Seminary Associate Professor of Doctrinal Theology and author of The Grace of Sophia (Pilgrim Press, 2002) has contributed a chapter, “Exploring Holy Spirit, Chi and the Other,” to A New Day: Essays on World Christianity in Honor of Lamin Sanneh. The book is edited by Akintunde Akinade. Grace's chapter examines how the Eastern concept of Chi and the Western Christian understanding of the Holy Spirit have a striking resemblance to one another. In an effort to help correct the tendency for Western society to make Eastern society "the Other," Grace's writing brings understanding to the similarities between Eastern traditions and Western Christian traditions and spirituality.
She has also recently written “Globalization and World Consumption: An Ethical Theological Discourse,” Forum on Public Policy Online, Vol 2010 no 3. (September 2010).. This article examines a problem currently challenging the Western world, “how to live in this world so others can also live.” She discusses the disastrous situation of over-consumption and analyzes the postcolonial, globalized society that perpetuates the cycle of consumerism. The article stresses the need to be conscious of our way of life, particularly our propensity towards consumption. |
