The CROSSROADS program of Moravian Theological Seminary will offer a Quiet Christmas Service on December 21, 2011, beginning at 6:45pm. It will be held in the Bahnson Center at 60 W Locust Street in Bethlehem, PA. All are welcome to attend for no charge.
Quiet Christmas provides a more reflective celebration of the Christmas season, particularly for those who find the holiday season to be challenging due to loss or hardship. “Water and Light” is the theme of this year’s service. Candlelight, special music with harp and violin, Scripture readings, and time for contemplation will all be part of the evening.
Students of the CROSSROADS program are responsible for the content and design of the service, which evolved from an assignment in a spiritual formation class that was offered last winter. The success of last year’s event inspired CROSSROADS students and alumni to organize the service again this year. “We pray that people will get out of the service whatever their own personal reasons for attending may be,” said Laura Hagerstrom, a student of the program. “If they come hurting, then comfort; if they come mourning a loved one, then healing; if they are deafened by the noise of the season, then quiet.”
CROSSROADS is Moravian Theological Seminary’s lay leadership training program designed for individuals with a passion for lay ministry in their churches and communities. The program consists of sixteen courses and a Community Missional Experience. Active church members, those seeking lay pastor certification, or individuals just desiring personal enrichment are welcome to enroll. |
