Thanks to technology we have stayed connected by blog with our students and faculty who are in participating this summer in the Ramat Rahel Archaeological Project in Israel. The dig site is located on a hilltop between the Old City of Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
Jointly sponsored by Moravian College and Seminary, the trip is co-led by Dr. Deborah Appler, associate professor of Old Testament at Moravian Seminary, and Dr. Jason Radine, assistant professor of Religion at Moravian College. The group of 21 faculty and students will be in Israel from July 20-August 15th.
The "hounds in the ground" blog (named for the Moravian College mascot, the greyhound) cataloges the group members' experiences of digging, touring historical sites, and gaining insights into the culture.
Check out the blog to hear their experiences of "being from Bethlehem (PA) and staying in Bethlehem (Israel)"... and about digging up "more history in a day than a whole year of high school history class"....
