This summer the Seminary will welcome the Rev. Dr. Jane Williams as Associate Professor of Pastoral Counseling and Director of the MAPC program. Jane is an Episcopal priest, educator, and licensed psychologist who received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Lehigh University and an MDiv from Drew University Theological School.
Jane's professional experience includes service in several contexts in which ministry, counseling, and education intersect. She currently serves as chaplain and chair of the Religious Studies department at St. Mary's Episcopal School in Nashville, TN. From 1997-2005 she served Christ Episcopal Church in Reading, PA, as priest associate and coordinator of their parish-based spirituality center. She has been director of Counseling at Albright College and taught in their Psychology department. She has also owned and managed a private practice, Holistic Counseling Resources. Since 2006 she has taught as an adjunct faculty member in the DMin in Educational Leadership program at Virginia Theological Seminary.
She is a Certified Labyrinth Facilitator and a sought out preacher, teacher, and conference and retreat leader. We look forward to the many gifts that she will bring to the Seminary, starting with her team teaching the Peer Group and Supervision course this summer.
When asked about joining the faculty at Moravian, Jane responded, "My passions are teaching, counseling, and ministry, and it has always been a kind of "dance" to find a setting that allows me to do all three. I am thrilled and excited to be a part of Moravian Seminary and especially to be chairing and teaching in the pastoral counseling department. This position is a challenging and exhilarating blend of my three passions. The faculty, administrators, and students I have met have been warm and welcoming — just the kind of collegial atmosphere that supports student and faculty excellence! I am looking forward to beginning my work at Moravian this summer!" |
