How often do we find the immediate crowding out the essential in our lives? As we all experience from time to time (like the beginning of a semester!), life pulls, pushes, splits, and squeezes us in all kinds of ways that can distract us from what the early Moravians called “the deep joy of our hearts.” Borrowing some reflections from our Jewish friends on this most important holiday of Yom Kippur, the “day of atonement,” and in the light of God’s unifying work in Jesus Christ, we’ll explore what it means to be “at one” with ourselves, with one another, and with God, in the face of a world that tugs us in directions that often have little to do with our own deepest sense of who we are meant to be.

We invite you to join us for a time of conversation, contemplation, and relaxation.  This gathering is intended for all members of the Seminary community – students, spouses, faculty, and staff.  Leadership for the day will be provided by Lori Young, spiritual director, pastoral counselor and Seminary adjunct faculty member, and by Steve Simmons, MTS director of continuing education and coordinator of vocational development.
