Rev. Dr. Christine L. Nelson
Director of Seminary Advancement

The Rev. Dr. Christine L. Nelson was called to the position of Director of Seminary Advancement of Moravian College and Theological Seminary in August 2013 to plan, guide, and lead the Seminary’s overall development efforts. Annual fund, scholarships, and building relationships with alumni and friends are her primary building blocks in support of the Seminary’s mission, students, and alumni.
Ordained in 1978 by the United Church of Christ, Chris began ministry at St. Peter's UCC, Punxsutawney, PA, served a second parish, Church of the Good Shepherd, Boyertown, PA, and a third congregation, Faith UCC, Allentown. Before joining Moravian Theological Seminary, Chris served as the Executive Director of the Lehigh County Conference of Churches for 14 years, expanding its ecumenical & interfaith work, growing its budget to $3.5 million and increasing the Conference’s impact in the community. Under her tutelage they became a key player in community efforts to end chronic homelessness.
Dr. Nelson is a frequent contributor to the Morning Call religious/faith and values pages. She is actively involved in local organizations and has received a number of awards, including the Wallenberg Tribute Award of the Institute for Jewish Christian Understanding of Muhlenberg College, Peace Pilgrim of the Year Award from the LV Peace Pilgrimage, and Lehigh Valley Woman of Distinction from the Greater Valley Council of the Girl Scouts.
