Spiritual Direction Program Admission Requirements

 
Applicants must submit the following:
  • The MTS Online Application

  • Application fee of $50, which can be waived by attending an Info Sessions

  • A 2-4 page autobiographical essay emailed to the Director of Enrollment at deremerd@moravian.edu addressing the following questions:

    • What are two personal or professional experiences that have led you to the decision to pursue this degree? What have you learned from each experience? How do you think they will help as you pursue this degree?

    • Please describe your faith experience or spiritual path. How has your faith experience or spiritual path affected your life story and your decision to pursue this degree?

    • What are your goals after completion of your proposed course of study?

  • A second 1-2 page essay emailed to the Director of Enrollment addressing: (1) your history and experience of receiving Spiritual Direction and (2) your process of discerning your call to offer Spiritual Direction as it has unfolded over time.

  • Four completed reference forms, one from each of the following: (1) a Vocational Mentor/Pastor, (2) Professor/Employer, (3) Character Reference, and (4) your Spiritual Director. (Click to download the reference form.) Complete and sign the top part of the form and forward it to your references for completion. Your references may return the form and their written responses by mail, by scanning and emailing them to deremerd@moravian.edu, or by fax to 610-861-1569.

  • Official transcripts from all schools attended beyond high school. Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.

Approved applicants demonstrate their ability to do graduate theological study in a variety of ways, including their writing, letters of recommendation, grades, and professional and life experience.
